To resolve the crisis of the Faculty of Ethnology, especially with the hunger strike observed over 10 days by five students, the Rector of the State University of Haiti (REPLACE ME) is considering the easing of sanctions against some of them, who were excluded from the UEH, but under certain conditions. And in regard to the university reform demanded by the students, the rector says that "a special request will be sent to the government to obtain exceptional resources for this purpose.
The Executive Board of the State University of Haiti (CE / UEH), in an opinion, said that five students take note, some sanctioned by the respective deans (Faculty of Ethnology / IERAH, formerly ISER) , observed a hunger strike at the local Faculty of Ethnology. In this opinion, the deanship note also said that other students have invested "break-in, Tuesday, February 22, 2011, the local headquarters of the State University of Haiti (the rector), endangering the fragile structure of the university. "
Facing the reform UEH required for several years by students, which is also one of their main demands was the Rector also stated that the problems facing the State University of Haiti are structural order and that the state failed to provide sufficient resources and adequate to serve the community better. To enable the smooth running of all normal and faculty bodies, the Commission therefore plans to ease sanctions against the striking students, but under certain conditions.
"The immediate cessation of the strike, the recognition that physical and verbal assaults are unacceptable, intolerable and reprehensible in the university, the recognition that the demands of even the most legitimate, must in no case be expressed by the use of expletives and acts of physical aggression and commitment not to reoffend and that the formal solicitation by the relief concerned with their respective deans, are the conditions put forward by the rector. The "old" students of the Faculty of Ethnology has been expelled from school for having, according to Dean, attacked the vice-dean of research, Professor Jean-Yves Blot.
To believe the leaders of the State University of Haiti, an ad hoc committee be formed to address the faculty of ethnology and other entities which REPLACE ME "deserves the institutional adjustments urgent. " To address some critical issues and meet certain demands repeated on the occasion of this new crisis, the rector will send a "special request to the government to obtain exceptional resources for this purpose." Officials have invited students and teachers involved in this latest crisis to UEH to do anything to not waste the current academic year "for the good of the Haitian society."
In regard to this famous reform, the president of the Online Campus, John Henry Vernet, said Tuesday, February 22, 2011, the Radio Magik 9 that the Haitian government has recently granted three million bottles of the Committee Reform UEH to do its work, an amount clearly insufficient or unreasonable and miserable.
The budget for the financial year 2010/2011 UEH is about 467 million bottles, or half of what was requested, as the president, whose budget for investment is 191 million gourdes when most entities UEH collapsed or were damaged in the earthquake of January 12, 2010.
